Health & Wellness Coaching

Our Health & Wellness Coach partners with you to enhance your well-being through self-directed lasting changes, aligned with your values. The Coach will support you in activating internal strengths and external resources to make sustainable and healthy lifestyle behavior changes. Our Coach displays unconditional positive regard for you and believes in your ability to change, honoring the fact that you are an expert on your own life while ensuring that all interactions are respectful and non-judgmental. Engage in self-discovery and self-monitor behaviors on your path to your healthiest self.

What can I expect in my sessions?

An empowering partnership where evidence-based interventions are used to create lasting behavioral change. With a coach, you are the expert in your life. Together we work to evoke and explore what your version of health looks like and create a personalized path to get there.


Initial self-discovery session: 90 minutes

In-depth exploration of your vision for your optimal health and the personal values underlying your vision.  This session helps you tap into your deepest motivation for making health-related changes and is foundational to a successful health coaching experience.


Follow-Up: 45 minutes

These sessions follow the initial session and are designed to help you become clear about what a healthy life means to you and how to turn your plans and ideas into reality. During each session,  we will focus on what you want and need to feel a deep connection and motivation to attain your desired outcomes. We will explore the skills and strengths you already have as well as the values and vision that bring meaning to your goals. In turn, you will learn more about yourself and how you work best.

Coaching sessions usually take place via phone or video conferencing, but can also be conducted in person.  The initial session runs for about 90 minutes. Typically sessions are spaced about two weeks apart, though the first two sessions are often scheduled closer together to jumpstart the process and get you on the path to achieving your goals. Support is also available between sessions via email/chat.

It takes a minimum of three months to develop a new habit that becomes self-sustaining, so we ask for a commitment of at least three to four months, or seven sessions, for you to experience the impact of our coaching work.  A longer period of coaching, such as six months, may be better for clients with significant challenges.
Self-assessment needs to be completed prior to the first session. 


Mental Skills Trainer, a Certified Health, and Wellness Coach, Kirsten Olshan, MS, 

 Kirsten’s background is in the performing arts as a professional actress, singer, and dancer, touring nationally, and has worked in theatre for young people. Her M.S. is in exercise science and health promotion, focusing on sports psychology and nutrition. Kirsten's interests and studies are in the psychology of human performance. 

Kirsten aims to enhance the health and well-being of performing artists, athletes, and high performers through health and wellness coaching, research, and health education. After facing physical challenges as a dancer and an athlete Kirsten learned how to adapt to a new way of life as a recreational and competitive athlete. Kirsten's resilience led her to research and focus on how participation in sports and physical activity impacted individuals' overall well-being, both physically and mentally. Kirsten has worked with professional athletes, clinicians, and high-profile performing artists. She is an international speaker with AAE and a National Board-Certified Health and Wellness coach. She has led workshops on health and wellbeing globally and is a cancer advocate with NBCC. Kirsten has received awards for service and for making theatre, music, and dance accessible to all in public schools in Fairfax County, Virginia.

Kirsten works in partnership with her clients in a creative process that supports and inspires them to maximize their full potential. She uses a comprehensive, science-based, and tailored approach to creating sustainable behavior (change related to healthy lifestyles)


Kirsten taught me to change how I think about things and to focus on what I can do to achieve my results instead of what I should do. She also reminded me to focus on the reasons why I have decided to be more active, be kind to myself,
and let go of perfectionism.
